Does culture matter?

We’re all the same. I’m convinced. Each one of the 6 billion or so of us were endowed, more or less, with the same brain that blesses each of us with the ability to ‘get’ one another.

But then, what is culture for? Is it a package of language, customs and taboos that together destroy the innate harmony that should exist between people? If culture disappeared tomorrow would we all join hands, smile at each other with understanding and laugh together at our juvenile ability to make the slight difference of a mole hill into the wars of disagreement of a mountain?

Culture must be a bad thing.

A world without culture strikes me as the ultimate form of boring. Empty space. A vacuum. Grey as far as the eye can see in ever direction.
